CDC Director Visits RRC
The Resource Recovery Center (RRC) received a very special visitor on Thursday, February 22nd. Dr. Mandy Cohen, the Director of the Center for Disease Control took a tour of the RRC and spoke with Program Director John Bayles about all of the important work being done in collaboration with the Jefferson County Department of Health. It was an exciting and important recognition for the work still needed to prevent overdoses. “The growing overdose crisis ― particularly among young people ― requires urgent action,” said Mandy K. Cohen, MD, MPH, Director for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “To help, CDC is providing funding that will allow communities to respond more quickly, more effectively, and more equitably — using data to drive action steps that reduce overdose deaths and related harms in communities as fast as possible.”
